Casa Valentina

New Conservatory Theatre Center
25 Van Ness Avenue San Francisco

When imagining a man's secret society, one might picture its members smoking cigars while having a scotch in sharp suits. But for the handful of gentlemen at Casa Valentina, sipping cocktails while sporting beehives and brassieres is more their style. Set in the early '60s, the story follows a group of heterosexual men who congregate at a Catskills resort far from their families to secretly behave and dress like women. Based on real events, the play offers a glimpse into the lives of a group of "self-made women." Casa Valentina -- written by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots, La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy) -- is a funny, heartfelt story about the search for acceptance and happiness, and the struggle to find the perfect pair of pumps. Experience this regional premiere at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theatre Center.
