Award-winning playwright and author J. (Joan) California Cooper, who passed away in September 2014, calls her one-act drama Loners "a story about love, betrayal and self-renewal." Relationships between several very different characters, including a bartender, a player, two church ladies, a stranger and a woman in love, come under Cooper's sharp gaze as they unfold over the course of one hot summer day.
