If you're going to turn a Pulitzer Prize-winning Eugene O'Neill play into a Broadway musical, you better have some serious talent involved. Luckily for the producers -- and audience -- of New Girl in Town, the powerhouse team of George Abbott (Damn Yankees) and Bob Merrill (Funny Girl) was the force bringing O'Neill's Anna Christie to the stage. Set in turn-of-the-20th century New York, this Tony-winning musical centers on Anna, a woman with a checkered past who returns home to join her father, Old Chris Christopherson, the captain of a coal barge. On a foggy July 4th night, a sailor is pulled from the dark waters of the Atlantic. As the fog clears, Anna and Matt Burke's eyes meet and their lives are changed forever. Now, 42nd Street Moon brings New Girl in Town to The Eureka Theatre in San Francisco.
