Rapture, Blister, Burn
Aurora Theatre
2081 Addison Street Berkeley
Heated discussion and hearty laughter are sure to result from Rapture, Blister, Burn, the white-hot new play from Gina Gionfriddo. Twice Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, Gionfriddo -- whose recent TV work includes writing for the Emmy-nominated Netflix series House of Cards -- has crafted a play that makes audiences howl and critics swoon. Rapture, Blister, Burn centers on Catherine, a rockstar feminist academic, who returns home to take care of her elderly mother. There, she encounters an old flame and an "ex" best friend who seem to be excelling at the kind of conventional life Catherine rejected. But first impressions can be very deceiving. Desdemona Chiang directs this exploration of how the lives of women have (and have not) changed for the Aurora Theatre Company.
