Slaughterhouse-Five
Gough Street Playhouse
1620 Gough St San Francisco
Kurt Vonnegut's book Slaughterhouse-Five approaches the story of one of the most horrific massacres of World War II with mock-serious humor and a severely disjointed timeline, making it one of the most poignant anti-war fiction books of our modern time. Based on Vonnegut's own experiences surviving the Bombing of Dresden, during which the historic city was decimated and tens of thousands of civilians were killed, the book was adapted for the stage in 1996 by Tony-nominated and Oscar-winning writer Eric Simonson. Watch as Custom Made Theatre Company presents this story anew with an all-star ensemble of 11 actors playing dozens of characters over the play's 50 scenes. The staging includes a dynamic video show, which will be projected into a geodesic dome, including animations from Vonnegut himself.
