A Thousand Splendid Suns, based on the best-selling novel by Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner), returns to A.C.T.'s Geary Theater in San Francisco. Weaving together the stories of three generations of Afghan women and their remarkable resilience, the play unfolds amidst the war-torn streets of modern-day Kabul. Unmarried and pregnant, lovely Laila is forced to marry her older neighbor after her family and home are torn apart. When she forges an unlikely friendship with her husband's first wife, the two women manage to find the inner-strength and hope to raise a new generation. Adapted for the stage by acclaimed Irish-Indian playwright Ursula Rani Sarma, this stunning production reunites many of the original cast members and will, once again, feature live music from renowned composer and saw player David Coulter.
