Camelot at The San Francisco Playhouse

The San Francisco Playhouse
450 Post Street San Francisco

The San Francisco Playhouse closes out its 10th season in style with a gritty, re-imagined version of the timeless musical by Lerner & Loewe. This Bill English-directed production still revolves around the intense love triangle between King Arthur, Guenevere and Sir Lancelot, but this Camelot is set in a darker world with knights as bikers, Guenevere as an angry goth and Lancelot as a religious fanatic. Starring in the role of Lancelot is Wilson Jermaine Heredia, who played Angel in the original Broadway production and 2005 film adaptation of Rent. Following up the company's successful My Fair Lady, those leads, Johnny Moreno and Monique Hafen, are set to star here as well. Originally based on T. H. White's literary version of the Arthurian legend The Once and Future King, the show's lush Lerner & Loewe score shines with such memorable songs as "If Ever I Would Leave You," "I Loved You Once in Silence" and "Camelot."
